Nursing Preceptor Development Using a Mobile Application

Researchers report that mobile technologies can be an effective way to support preceptor development and address the challenges associated with preparing nurses for this role. In an effort to further clinical preceptor development, researchers used the Remind app to provide weekly information to preceptors. This information included reminders, additional resources, course updates, and encouragement as the preceptors worked with senior nursing students in their final clinical practicum course. The preceptors had positive reactions to the technology. Further research should examine the impact of mobile learning technology on competence, the researchers said.
