Message From Vince Loffredo, EdD, Alliance’s New President

By: Vince Loffredo, EdD

Some of you may have seen me on stage this past week; for those of you who did not, I’m Vince Loffredo, a long‑time champion of lifelong learning and the evolving role of continuing education in improving patient care. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading educational and professional development efforts across major academic health centers and national medical organizations, and I currently serve as chief learning officer at the American Society of Anesthesiologists. My work has centered on building innovative, learner‑centered CPD programs, strengthening cross‑organizational collaboration and advancing the strategic impact of education within the broader health professions community. I’m energized by the opportunity to serve this Alliance membership and to continue shaping a forward‑looking future for CME together.

Outside of work, I live in Overland Park, Kansas, where I’m grounded by the joy and energy of my family. People sometimes ask why I volunteer, and the honest answer is that it all started because I spent years being voluntold by my amazing wife, Megan, who is somehow even busier than I am. In the last three weeks alone, we’ve missed each other by five minutes at the Kansas City Airport twice, and the one time we did cross paths, it was as she was boarding her plane while I was landing.

Megan works in pet nutrition, which helps explain our lively household of animals: our dogs Frankie and Max and our three cats Millie, Pearl and Bobbi, who collectively believe they own the house. Adding to the fun, we have four wonderful children, our sons Vincenzo and Rocco and our daughters Gabriele and Giovanna, who ensure the energy level never drops below “controlled chaos.”

As a lifelong New York Mets fan, I fully embrace the mantra “You Gotta Believe,” which loosely translates to: There’s always next year. And finally, I’m a proud alumnus of both Syracuse University and the University of Houston, two communities that shaped me and continue to influence the person and leader I am today.

It is an honor to share my first monthly update as president of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions. Coming off the incredible energy of last week’s Annual Conference, I want to highlight the momentum we created together as we launched our 50th anniversary year.

Conference Highlights

Our 50th Anniversary Gala on Tuesday night was truly unforgettable. Attendees embraced the celebration with style, everyone looked fantastic and the evening was filled with connection, fun and appreciation for five decades of advancing continuing education in the health professions.

Throughout the week, our program lineup showcased some of the best thinking, innovation and collaboration in our field. From skill‑building sessions to forward‑focused workshops, our presenters and facilitators delivered exceptional content that resonated across the profession. Check out the Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4 conference recaps for more information.

Keynotes and Featured Conversations

A major highlight included our keynote speaker, Dr. Mike Varshavski, whose perspective as a leading health influencer brought fresh insight into how we communicate, educate and engage audiences in a digital age.

We also enjoyed an engaging conversation with Dr. John Whyte, exploring the future of health communication and the role of CE professionals in shaping meaningful learning experiences.

Our Past Presidents Panel offered a powerful reflection on how our community has evolved, honoring our roots while inspiring the next generation of leaders who will shape what comes next.

Looking Ahead: A Vision for 2026

As we look to the year ahead, my focus is on engaging our members more deeply in the work of advancing continuing medical education. I am calling on each of you to get involved, volunteer, join a committee, share your expertise and help us continue building a future‑ready Alliance. Our profession is undergoing renewal and transformation. Your participation is essential to the innovation and future ahead. Visit our website to get involved.

Acknowledgments and Gratitude

My heartfelt thanks to the 2026 Alliance Annual Conference Committee, especially Chair Greselda Butler and Vice Chair Damon Marquis, as well as our exceptional staff. Their leadership and dedication have made this one of our most successful conferences yet.

A sincere thank you to our Alliance supporters for helping us deliver one of the most vibrant and engaging Exhibit Halls we’ve ever hosted.

I also want to express my gratitude to the 2025 Board of Directors, and especially to Audrie Tornow for her tremendous leadership as President through 2025, leading us to the future in 2026. She will be a tough act to follow!

Finally, I want to welcome Andy Crim as our incoming vice president. I look forward to partnering with him and the full 2026 Board of Directors as we shape the Alliance’s next chapter.
