Nevada is investing more than $15.7 million in Graduate Medical Education (GME) grants to expand physician training and improve access to healthcare across the state. The Nevada Health Authority awarded funding to nine residency and fellowship programs in high-need specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pulmonary and critical care medicine, diagnostic radiology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology. The grants—awarded through a review process focused on program quality, workforce impact, and training capacity—will support programs at Carson-Tahoe Health, Dignity Health, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, UNLV School of Medicine, and UNR School of Medicine. State leaders, including Nevada Health Authority Director Stacie Weeks and Gov. Joe Lombardo, said the investments will strengthen Nevada's physician workforce pipeline and help ensure long-term access to quality health care for communities throughout the state.
