With increased attention on new technological applications in nursing, such as assistance robotics and artificial intelligence, researchers investigated which training options are available for nursing professionals to acquire digital competences. The scoping review looked at the PubMed and CINAHL databases from 2017 to 2024. Of the eight articles selected, four were published in international English-language journals and four were published in German-speaking countries. However, the researchers found no specific continuing education training for the development of digital competences for nursing professionals. The authors note the "systematic integration of digitalization into higher education and continuing vocational training is mentioned in the publications," and strongly encourage "the development of theory- and research-based educational frameworks, which can be used as a basis for curricula in nursing studies and continuing education."
