A telesimulation-based training tool was developed to address high neonatal mortality rates in Tanzania. By improving the quality of care, this tool targets deaths occurring in the first week of life. The program, created through collaboration between neonatologists and medical instrumentation providers, introduced a device that can be operated both locally and remotely to support ongoing professional development. Implementation of the tool, which was evaluated through neonatal resuscitation simulations, led to significant gains in provider performance. Providers technical skills improved by 38.8% while their nontechnical skills increased by 71.4%. The system's ability to function autonomously on-site or under remote guidance positions it as a sustainable model for continuous training and strengthened neonatal care, researchers report.
