Spotlighting #Alliance25 Poster Presenters

By: Erin Schwarz

The Alliance 2025 Annual Conference offered a lot of informative and insightful poster presentations by our Alliance membership and colleagues. Walking through the Gaylord Palms Convention Center, I was impacted and inspired by the plethora of advancements throughout the healthcare CME/CPD community.

Here are a couple of highlights from my time in Orlando this year:

Revolutionizing Online Learning: Utilizing Quality Improvement Pathway to Design Specialized Education

Presented by: Breann Bauer, MS; Rima Patel, MS; Kim M. Denny, MSEd; and Jennifer E. Schwartz, MD

Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM)

Breann told me that her team at IUSM had received a grant to provide education related to cystic fibrosis, and that activity had been so successful that they templated the process for other educational endeavors. These have been received so well that IUSM has had other organizations reach out, asking to utilize the pathway for their own educational purposes.

Improved Speaker Experience With an In-depth Speaker's Guide

Presented by: Pam Frost, MSN, RN; and Jenny Lee, BS

American Association of Nurse Practitioners

The key take home from this research was that 97% of their speakers said they would use the guide for future presentations because they found it so helpful.

The Gang's All Here! Implementing Faculty Development Across Six Health Professional Schools

Presented by: Jennifer Ipsen, MS; Vickie Skinner, DHA, CHCP; Mandy Scott, DHA; and Jeanna Wilkes, DHA, MBA, MCA

University of Mississippi Medical Center

Jennifer Ipsen and her team from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) looked at their process for improvement for faculty development, which they have named "Faculty Focus". Their biggest challenges have been to get larger buy-in from other professionals besides the physicians, since this is an intraprofessional effort. Her team theorizes that some of the issues relate to a lack of bandwidth, and some of them relate to lower relative career stage for the non-physicians. This program is ongoing.

BONUS: Lifelong Learning, Well-being and Joy at Work

Check out this Alliance Podcast episode featuring two of the poster presenters from “The Gang’s All Here!”  On the pod, Vickie M. Skinner, DHA, CHCP; Jennifer Ipsen, MS; and Lauren Winters, MA, discuss the importance of incorporating well-being principles into CE/CPD programming.

Unique Partnerships: Incorporating CEHP in Efforts to Decrease Sexual Reoffense in Tennessee

Presented by: Donna Dougherty, BS, CHCP; Susan Siedentop, LCSW; Melissa Hood, MPH, CHCP, CAP; and Heather Grove, BA, CHCP

East Tennessee University and Tennessee Department of Correction

Donna Dougherty and her team from East Tennessee State University partnered with the Tennessee Department of Corrections to offer a series of training courses and monthly "Lunch & Learn" activities. They studied the results for their poster, “Unique Partnerships: Incorporating CEHP in Efforts to Decrease Sexual Reoffense in Tennessee". Although their study is ongoing, they did find that clinicians who attended these educational activities had lower symptoms of burnout, and also their patients had lower recidivism rates. This is such important work!

The following presentations are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the educational insights #Alliance25 offered. It’s always great to gather with the CME/CPD community, and I’m excited to see what advancements will come from our profession next.
