#Alliance25 Preview: Shifts in the Healthcare Landscape and Implications for Evolving Continuing Education

By: Ginny Jacobs, PhD, M.Ed., MLS, CHCP, FSACME; John Ruggiero, PhD, MPA, BCS; Nancy Paynter, MBA; and Vince Loffredo, Ed.D.

Do you ever feel like the world of change in medical education is swirling all around you? Are you ever tempted to find a quiet corner (not to necessarily hide, but rather) to protect yourself from being dashed against the rocks as a result of these waves of change?

How do you even begin to navigate the whirlwind that accompanies our call to keep pace with evolving technology, enhanced educational designs and tools and use of the mountains of real-world data? Oh, and let’s not forget the context — all of this is required amidst the emergence of new learner and patient expectations.

The Alliance 2025 Annual Conference session entitled “Shifts in the Healthcare Landscape and Implications for Evolving Continuing Education”, which is being offered on Thursday, Jan. 9 from 3:45–5:15 p.m., is designed to provide an opportunity to reflect and plan. Drawing from the “Necessary Disruption 2.0: A Continuing Education Call to Action” Almanac article, session participants will engage in meaningful conversation to promote and guide personal accountability when facing the shifts that are occurring in the field of healthcare education.

This innovative session, moderated by Ginny Jacobs, PhD, M.Ed, will involve a spirited discussion with seasoned CPD professionals, John Ruggiero, PhD, MPA, BCS; Nancy Paynter, MBA; and Vince Loffredo, Ed.D. Each panelist will share their personal perspectives on the evolving healthcare landscape. We will also spring into engaging discussions with attendees to help envision how we can address the need for necessary disruption within our roles.

We often hear reference to our pressing need to be more patient centered, to address the evolving needs of clinician learners, and to strategically respond to the pressing demand to utilize real-world data in our learning ecosystem. A tall order, indeed! Given those demands, how can we effectively respond to (or, better yet, anticipate) necessary change in a manner that creates the most value for our learners? And how can we drive enhancements that ultimately improve the quality of care they are delivering to their patients?

The goal of this session is to provide a forum for us to collectively and systematically make sense of the changes that surround us. We will focus our energy on the need to develop a tangible (and, yes, disruptive) plan of action — one that positions us and our learners for continued success in this shifting landscape. We will strive to equip you with actionable takeaways and practical insights to help guide you when you return to your office.

Are you haunted by the expression “sink or swim”? Come join us and we will paddle together.

We hope to see you there!

Are you ready to address necessary disruption within your role as a healthcare CPD professional? Register for the Alliance 2025 Annual Conference, taking place Jan. 8–11, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
