Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) are widely recognized by dentists, yet their use in everyday practice remains limited. According to a recent systematic review of 28 cross-sectional surveys, 87% of dentists were familiar with the term "regenerative endodontics," but only 46% had received continuing education on the topic. Traditional apexification remains the preferred treatment for necrotic immature permanent teeth (61%) over REPs (37%). Although most dentists express strong support for REPs, with 90% recommending their use and 91% willing to pursue training, many perceive them as more expensive (54%), and cost was the most frequently cited barrier to adoption (63%). Despite positive attitudes and a belief in REPs’ superior efficacy (reported by 53% as their main motivation), only about half of dentists (49%) actually perform the procedure, suggesting that broader clinical uptake will depend on reducing cost concerns and expanding educational opportunities, researchers report.
