The Alliance 2025 Annual Conference convened at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center for the final day of educational sessions. Read a recap of Saturday’s highlights here:
CHANGE: How to Make Big Things Happen
The morning kicked off with a keynote from Damon Centola, PhD, who presented the closing keynote, “CHANGE: How to Make Big Things Happen”. What a way to wrap up a week of expanding perspectives and inspiring possibilities! Dr. Centola covered the following highlights:
- Transmission of ideas: New ideas and information can spread rapidly between individuals, similar to a virus.
- Challenges in behavior change: Many accepted ideas about viral spreading do not effectively change behavior, as seen in public health initiatives and clinical guideline adoption.
- Network diffusion breakthroughs: Dr. Centola discussed advancements in the science of network diffusion and how they enhance understanding of behavior change, particularly in healthcare.
- Influence of social networks: Social networks, including those among healthcare colleagues, play a crucial role in propagating new behaviors and achieving widespread acceptance of new practices and norms.
Concurrent Session Takeaways
With many sessions to choose from each day, #Alliance25 attendees were inspired to think beyond the latest in healthcare continuing education. Here’s what the Almanac Editorial Board had to say about some key sessions throughout the week:
Engaging Students: Practical Ways to Leverage Students to Improve Your Overall Program
- Engaging students is a critical component that could help ACCME with commendation criteria.
- Lots of providers already do this but may not fully recognize that they are doing it.
- Engaging students can happen in a variety of ways:
- Planning/designing a CPD program.
- Managing a CPD program.
- Poster sessions design and management.
- To smoothen resistance on involving students, CPD providers may explore the following strategies:
- If possible, share feedback from students and learners on how the involvement helped in achieving better program outcomes (such as learner satisfaction, more engagement etc.).
- To encourage more student involvement, ask students who volunteered to help what motivated them to apply for this task and how other students can be motivated to join.
Generative AI in Action: 5-Step Framework to Improve Faculty Disclosure Management Process
- Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or CoPilot can be explored to find out whether a company had medical devices or drugs in clinical trials on a given topic.
- The degree of accuracy of results varies on the quality of the prompt, the GenAI tool and the topic/company. However, human intervention and review cannot be ignored. Every result must be reviewed by a human for accuracy.
- Although the GenAI tools are far from being perfect and cannot replace human review of disclosures to determine relevancy, they could provide information that will help providers save web browsing time on at least some of the occasions.
- Following a standard five-step process to review a Generative AI case in a CPD workflow can mitigate AI risks, enhance responsible AI usage and enhance operational efficiencies.
- Every Generative AI use case implementation must include a human in the loop to ensure data security, privacy and accuracy.
- Having an open mind on the use of Generative AI while having a healthy dose of skepticism will ensure a "balanced view" on the use of Generative AI and can provide the "optimal" efficiency and responsible AI usage.

Live From Orlando
- It takes a village, and every individual had a part to play. Every member contributed in some form or fashion, whether it was at this last session — the Family Feud — where we were collecting responses, you were a part of making this conference such a tremendous success. I am so appreciative and so thankful for the experience. It was one of the best professional development experiences I’ve ever had. I would encourage anyone and everyone to get on a leadership track, whether it be getting involved in your member section, which is where I started … I would really encourage you to get involved. Your Alliance, your professional home, is only as good as your desire to participate … Thank you so much, and I am so thankful to have been your president. It has been a wonderful experience, and thank you for all of your support over the past year. —Alliance Past President Pam McFadden, FACEHP, reflecting on #Alliance25 and her year as president
- When the inaugural award was offered last year, a really good friend of mine and I saw the potential in each other. She nominated me, and I nominated her. We are both active in the CME community, and we were both very fortunate to get it. This year, in working with Veronika, I could really see how she excelled. And I encouraged my team to come together, and we nominated her, and we are very proud of her and the work that she’s done. —Jess Henry, 2024 CPD Forty Under 40 Recipient on his path to the award recognition
- For me, it was being nominated and receiving the award [Forty Under 40]. A large part of that is also fueled by having such a great team and a leader that inspires us and allows us to take our ideas and fly with them. It’s being part of such a great team, and I am very grateful for that. —Veronika Jachimek, MBA, 2025 CPD Forty Under 40 Recipient on her path to the award recognition
