Psychedelic facilitation training in the United States is an emerging field that shows promise but faces clear gaps, particularly in developing spiritually responsive competencies. To understand the landscape, researchers used a quality-improvement approach involving interviews with representatives from 13 established or emerging U.S. training organizations; interview notes were confirmed by participants and then synthesized to identify shared priorities, practices, and needs. Programs commonly emphasized careful trainee and faculty selection, specific instructional content, attention to spiritual and existential themes, and varied teaching strategies. At the same time, the analysis revealed several shortcomings, including the need for ongoing education after program completion, alignment with standards in comparable disciplines, and broader development of field-wide training norms.
