The Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine's Center for Continuing Education and the Boston Medical Center (BMC) Health System's Quality and Patient Safety Department jointly operate the QI Hub, a resource for mentorship and coaching on quality improvement (QI) initiatives. A qualitative evaluation of participants in the Improvement Leadership Academy — a 6-month experiential QI course supported by QI Hub Faculty Mentors — found that coaching significantly enhanced project success by offering practical methodological guidance, insider knowledge of BMC's systems and workflows, and a psychologically safe environment for learning.
