The ChatGPT Effect: Nursing Education and Generative Artificial Intelligence

In this article, researchers examine the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing education. Potential advantages of the tool, they note, include the ability to help students with assignments, personalized interactive learning experiences and realistic patient scenarios for practice. Challenges, meanwhile, include the potential for plagiarism and copyright infringement, the risk of creating misinformation and ethical implications. Institutions must have clear guidelines about generative AI use, comprehensive student education about the tool and ways to identify AI-generated content, the authors assert, calling on "nurse educators to harness generative AI's potential responsibly."
