ACCME News Release (01/30/25)
To better understand and support the continuing professional development (CPD) and continuing education (CE) community, several organizations are launching the CPD/CE Workforce Survey. This is a collaborative effort of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education, State Medical Society Recognized Accreditors, the Alliance for Continuing Education of the Health Professions, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education, and the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. The survey will be conducted by a research team at the University of Illinois Chicago, and it will include all CPD/CE programs accredited by ACCME, State Medical Society Recognized Accreditors, and Joint Accreditation. Objectives include identifying current CPD/CE unit staffing characteristics and staffing trends; providing benchmark data to help accredited providers with determining effective staffing models; and correlating CPD/CE staffing models with factors such as provider type, size, accreditor, type, and number of activities and learners to benefit providers and other organizations. The survey will use de-identified data and will open in mid-February.
