Researchers investigated how different teaching methods - flipped learning, web-based learning, and traditional classroom instruction - affect clinical nurses' self-directed learning and metacognitive thinking. In a randomized controlled trial with 45 clinical nurses, participants were assigned to one of the three learning models and assessed before training, immediately after, and 1 month later. Both flipped and web-based learning led to significantly greater improvements in nurses' self-directed learning and metacognitive thinking than traditional instruction. There was no substantial difference between the two innovative approaches. The findings highlight the value of flexible, modern learning strategies in strengthening evidence-based practice skills among clinical nurses and support integrating such methods into ongoing professional education to enhance care quality, the researchers report.
