Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives in Continuing Pharmacy Education

ACPE Update (Spring 2024)

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education's (ACPE) Board of Directors approved revised diversity, equity and inclusion guidance for continuing professional education (CPE) providers based on responses from a survey of ACPE-accredited CPE providers and a literature review. The updated recommendations include a summary of best practices from CPE providers as well as specific DEI-related questions that may be reviewed when planning and providing CPE activities. The "ACPE Guidance to ACPE-accredited CE Providers to Incorporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within Organizations and CE Activities" guidance emphasizes ways to promote DEI at both the organizational and activity levels. A paper discussing the survey responses and identified DEI best practices is also undergoing peer review.
