Data Management Update and Call for Comment Executive Summary

By: ACCME Highlights

ACCME Highlights (05/24/23)

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) recently asked for input from accredited providers, state licensing boards and key stakeholders for enhancing the management of CME credit data. As of May 4, all state medical licensing boards can access CME credit data for their licensed physicians through a joint ACCME/Federation of State Medical Boards project. ACCME is also formulating strategies to alleviate the administrative burden associated with starting to disclose learner credit data. One approach involves automatically counting reported maintenance of certification credits as CME credits, while another strategy is to report credit just once for clinicians licensed in multiple states. Further improvements to data infrastructure are underway. Additional details on ACCME's call for comment on digital data management in accredited CE are available in the Call for Comment Executive Summary.
