ACCME Highlights (07/13/23)
The newly released ACCME Data Report: Renewal and Growth in Accredited Continuing Education — 2022 shows that the accredited continuing education (CE) system experienced renewal and growth last year. The report highlights a 13% gain in accredited educational activities, from roughly 204,000 in 2021 to 230,000 in 2022. Live activities surged 6% from 80,000 in 2021 to 85,000 courses in conjunction with increased advertising and exhibits at large conferences and annual meetings. The number of enduring materials rose 21% last year from 89,000 to around 108,500. Accredited provider numbers declined from 1,668 to 1,620 between 2021 and 2022, mainly due to consolidation throughout the hospital industry. Additionally, Joint Accreditation-accredited organizations grew by 10%, from 132 to 146, while other learner interactions rose 15%, from 28.1 million to 32.2 million. "I have immense confidence that together our team at ACCME and our community of educators can tackle challenges because of our shared pursuit of integrity, of excellence, and our commitment to protect a system we have nurtured and grown successfully together," said ACCME President and CEO Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc.
