ABIM Subspecialty Reports Detail Workforce Size, Certification Trends and Diversity Among Board Certified Physicians

The American Board of Internal Medicine's new Annual Diplomate Reports provide a detailed portrait of the board-certified internal medicine workforce. The data show how the number of certified physicians has expanded in response to shifting healthcare demands and evolving training pathways, and how this growth compares with overall U.S. population trends. The reports break down the physician population by medical school background, gender, race and ethnicity, and age, while also tracking changes in initial certification exam pass rates and documenting how diplomates are meeting Maintenance of Certification requirements, including which assessment options they select.
