To Help Curb Substance Use Disorders, State Offers Medicaid-Participating Docs Free Continuing Education

The University of Florida is offering free online continuing medical education (CME) credits to Medicaid-enrolled healthcare providers through August 2023 to help curb substance abuse disorders in Florida. The program trains doctors to screen, intercede and refer patients to treatment. The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Florida's Medicaid administrator, says the program highlights practice tips in the assessment and management of pregnant women. AHCA stresses that "obstetricians, family physicians, internal medicine physicians, primary care providers and hospital physicians are encouraged to participate given their front-line service in healthcare." The CME program was announced recently in a Medicaid alert from AHCA.
