Joint Accreditation Report Demonstrates Growth in Accredited Interprofessional Continuing Education

Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (08/03/20)

In a new report, Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education provides a comprehensive overview of the accredited interprofessional continuing education community, including the spectrum of jointly accredited organizations, educational activities and learners. The Joint Accreditation Report: Growth and Diversity of Accredited Continuing Education for Healthcare Teams–2019 estimates that 87 jointly accredited providers offered more than 55,000 educational activities in 2019, constituting more than 250,000 hours of instruction. Their educational activities included nearly 15 million interactions with healthcare professionals, and for the first time the data include learner interactions with optometrists, physician assistants, psychologists and social workers. Providers said in the report that 97% of activities aimed change learners' skills/strategy, 45% sought to change learners' performance and 16% were designed to change patient outcomes.
