Academy Debuts Weekly COVID-19 CME Webinar Series

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has launched a weekly continuing medical education webinar series focused on the COVID-19 pandemic. Former AAFP Vaccine Science Fellow Nina Ahmad, MD, who hosts the series, said the activities cover "issues around testing, treatment, and containment ... using a mix of evidence-based guidance coupled with the experience of physicians in different practice environments across the U.S. and internationally." The first webinar is designed to train participants to describe the natural history and presumed transmission modes of SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 disease; explain how the disease's unique nature requires systemic public health interventions; detail infection prevention measures for countering nosocomial spread and strategies for resource-poor locations; and review approaches for implementing evidence-driven, appropriate infection control in practices.
