Updates on the Longitudinal Assessment Option

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has updated its lower-stakes longitudinal assessment option for maintenance of certification, which should be offered in as many specialties as possible in 2022. New features include tools for answering physicians' questions anytime and anywhere; immediate feedback; views of rationales and references for each answer; and the ability to consult all resources employed in practice, except another person. ABIM also is soliciting insights to guarantee that doctors will find the new assessment option helpful and relevant. Resources available to foster engagement include the ABIM Community Insights Network, society meetings with ABIM staff, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
