Task Forces Continue to Make Progress

ABMS News Release (02/27/20)

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Standards Task Force is making strides on drafting continuing certification program standards. The Oversight Committee and the five Task Force Chairs will meet with the American Medical Association's Council on Medical Education in March, where the Advancing Practice, Information & Data Sharing, Remediation, and Professionalism task forces will highlight their work to date. This includes plans to recognize professionalism assessment tools currently employed across the healthcare system; create governance protocols for collaborative data-sharing; look for resources that support boards and diplomates with remediation processes and pathways; and structure more inclusive strategies to identify activities that physicians are already conducting to promote their practice. Future Achieving the Vision updates will provide further insights into the work of the task forces, along with progress toward the development of the new standards.
