Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (08/01/19)
The Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education's inaugural Joint Accreditation Data Report: Scope and Diversity of Accredited Continuing Education for Healthcare Teams – 2018 is now available. The study offers a comprehensive overview of the scope of the accredited interprofessional continuing education community, including the range of jointly accredited organizations, educational activities, and learners. The report found 75 jointly accredited providers in 2018 offered nearly 30,000 educational activities encompassing 144,000 hours of instruction, and such organizations included government and military organizations, hospitals and healthcare delivery systems, nonprofit membership organizations, publishing and education firms, and educational institutions of health sciences/medicine. Educational activities offered by jointly accredited providers comprised over 15 million interactions with healthcare professionals, and nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians were the professionals with the most reported interactions. According to providers, 94% of continuing education activities were developed to change learners' skills/strategy, 67% were intended to change their performance, and 15% were designed to change patient outcomes.
