Interprofessional practice and education (IPE) can establish a collective space between interprofessional education, interprofessional practice, and collaborative practice, enabling health care organizations to meet the Quadruple Aim framework. The framework's goals include focusing on patient experience, enhancing population health, reducing costs, and addressing the growing incidence of provider burnout. IPE's design starts with understanding a high-functioning team's power dynamics, in which trainers gather learners from multiple healthcare professions who cooperate in a collaborative learning environment. The talent development practitioner guides teams through experiential learning and reflective engagement so a shared common goal can be devised. The Interprofessional Education Collaborative has outlined four competency areas for interprofessional collaborative practice: values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, interprofessional communication, and teams and teamwork. Educators can motivate learners by helping them better understand the training's applicability to daily practice. The end product of IPE is high-functioning teams that support patient-centric safety, quality, and service in settings of meaningful work, upheld by compassionate interactions between team members.
