World Medical Association Launches Global Continuing Education Platform

World Medical Association Press Release (06/25/18)

A new education platform from the World Medical Association (WMA) aims to increase global healthcare standards and accelerate physicians' learning. Through a strategic partnership with the World Continuing Education Alliance, the WMA hopes to establish a huge continuing education resource. Thousands of courses have already been uploaded to the system. "With an umbrella membership of more than 10 million physicians, the WMA seeks to influence medical ethics, human rights and equal access to medical education around the world," says Dr. Otmar Kloiber, WMA Secretary General. "Online education provides a unique opportunity to connect the top educators with physicians improving knowledge and healthcare regardless of geographical location." WMA notes that all of its member associations will be offered Learning Management Systems to connect to the courses. Additionally, WMA says a number of educators have permitted their courses to be distributed at no charge, or at a significant discount, in emerging nations.
